Three Essential Factors for SWIR Sensor


Today we will take a look at the following three parameters. Without further ado, let's get started~


1. Quantum efficiency

Quantum efficiency refers to the efficiency of optoelectronic devices (such as photodetectors, photodiodes, etc.) in converting photons into electrons. Quantum efficiency shows of which wavelength can the light signal be collected, and it indicates the conversion efficiency in different wavelength. As shown in the figure below, you can see that when wavelength is around 1000nm, the conversion efficiency of the sensor is the highest.

2. Cooling method

Cooling method refers to the method used to reduce the temperature of the sensor. Common cooling methods include:

Thermoelectric cooling (TEC)

Air cooling

Liquid nitrogen cooling

Water cooling

Our current cooling method is mainly TEC. When environment temperature is 30℃when TEC is on, TE1 can cool the sensor to -10℃ maxTE2a can cool the sensor to -30℃ max.


3. Frame rate

Frame rate refers to the number of image captured in one second. Higher frame rate means more details when shooting moving objects or fast actions.

Frame rate is strongly related to exposure time. The higher the frame rate, the shorter the exposure time per frame.

At present, the highest frame rate of our standard products can reach 400Hz. If you need products with higher frame rates, please contact us for customization.
