Important Parameters of SWIR Camera

Detector material: InGaAs

InGaAs is a composite material composed of indium (In), gallium (Ga) and arsenic (As). It has high infrared sensitivity at 900nm-1700nm and is very suitable for SWIR imaging and detection applications. Therefore, most SWIR cameras on the market use InGaAs materials. In addition to InGaAs, there are other materials that also respond to short-wave bands, such as: mercury cadmium gallium arsenic (HgCdTe), indium antimony arsenic (InSb), indium gallium arsenide (InAs), but due to wavelength range, photoelectric conversion efficiency, preparation process, environmental adaptability, infrared transmittance, tunability and other reasons, the current mainstream SWIR detector is still made of InGaAs.

Spectral range:

Spectral response range means in this range optoelectronic devices would have response. In other words, it shows the camera can collect light signal within this range. Spectral response mainly depends on the material type of detector. For example, the spectral response range of InGaAs detectors is usually in the NIR to SWIR, from about 800 nm to 1700 nm. The response will begin to decrease if goes beyond this range.
