Application of SWIR Imaging in Forest Fire Prevention

Forest fires are one of the eight major natural disasters in the world, characterized by strong suddenness, high harm, and difficulty in handling and rescuing. According to statistics, there are an average of approximately 220000 forest fires occurring worldwide every year, with an affected forest area of 10 million hectares, accounting for approximately 0.25% of the total forest area.However, shortwave infrared imaging can be applied to the monitoring of forest fires, with specific cases as follows.

Water vapor scatters the spectrum, so visible light cameras cannot see the ignition point, while shortwave infrared cameras can see the difference between water vapor and smoke.

The pod system applies a shortwave infrared multispectral system for fire monitoring.
