About Bit Depth for SWIR image

Data bit depth refers to the number of bits that are encoded for the data information of each pixel in a digital image. It indicates the number of grayscale levels that each pixel can represent, also known as grayscale depth. Common data bit depths include 8bit, 12bit, 14bit, 16bit, etc. For example, 8bit means that each pixel in the image has 2 to the 8th power 256 levels, the darkest is 0, the brightest is 256, 12bit is 4096 levels, and 16bit is 65535 levels. The higher the bit depth, the finer the image, the higher the image accuracy, and the more information is retained.

In reality, from dark to light is definitely a linear gradient process, the higher the bit depth, the more this gradient process can be retained, so the more information can be retained.
